Alparslan Türkeş, one of the important people in the history of Turkish politics, has made a name for himself throughout his life. He was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1917. As a graduate of Kuleli military high school, he entered the Military School in 1938. After his military life, he entered politics with the Republican Peasant Nation Party in 1965 and became political chairman of this party a year later.
Alparslan Türkeş, who was detained for 4.5 years after the September 12 coup, joined the Nationalist Labor Party in 1987 after the bans were lifted and was elected chairman in the same year. After the political bans remained in 1991, he changed his party's name to the Nationalist Movement Party and continued politics with this name for many years.
Alparslan Türkeş who dragged the masses and formed a school after him, died in 1997 as a result of a heart attack. His tomb is located in Ankara Beştepe. It is visited and remembered by those who love it at the beginning of their tomb and party comrades every year.
