Grumman S-2 Trucker Submarine Defense Plane, Towards the end of the 1940s, the US Navy decided it needed a new submarine plane to take its place in AF2. This student Grumman company responded with a two-engine, upper wing G-89. Among the features of the planes were a high load capacity for sensors and weapons, a radar that could be pulled into the body, a magnetic detector bubble and search projectors. The wings were foldable and the tail hook made it suitable for the aircraft wagon. The prototype XS2F-1 flew on December 4, 1952. There were three different models. These models are S-2 Tracker (formerly S2F), E-1 Tracer and C-1 Trader, according to the new assignment in 1962. The first production model, the S-2A submarine helicopter, entered service in February 1954. In this model, 500 planes were delivered to the US Navy and some foreign countries. Other models include the S-2C (extended weapon store, larger tail to accommodate increased weight), US-2A / B / C (S-2 light transport and target towing), RS-, S- S2F (modified S-2B), CS-2F / CP- the latest and most advanced model (modified by DeHavilland for Canadian Navy) and S-2G (wider wing with four wings, extended crew and increased sonoboy load) - until 1970).
